a week in corfu

Corfu is a real gem ... wherever you go you're surrounded by olive groves, lemon and orange trees, huge cacti , fragrant flowers . The perfume of the orange blossom is unforgettable! And the people ...you'll never meet friendlier people .

I spent a few nights at Gongis Hotel in Agios Georgios de Argyrides and then travelled further north to Benitses. Here I stayed at a hotel called Skevoulis where I had such a beautiful view of the hills. Both rooms were booked via  Airbnb .

Charming tree houses at Gongis Hotel.

The Ionian Sea from the Island of Corfu

Spending time indoors on a day with thunderstorms:

At the Shell Museum in Benitses I viewed a private collection of shells and fossils , owned by Napoleon , a diver who lived in Australia for 20 years. The collection contains rare and expensive specimens , some of them valued at 25000eur.

The Achilleion is a magnificent palace named after Achilles , hero of Greek mythology. Here you're surrounded by Greek gods, goddesses, muses ...
